Rituparno feels Akshay Kumar most underrated actor

Akshay Kumar has found a fan in director Rituparno Ghosh who feels his acting skills go unnoticed and says he is the most underrated actor in Bollywood.
“I saw ‘Desi Boyz’ yesterday and cannot help thinking that Akshay Kumar is one of the most underrated actors in Bollywood,” Ghosh posted on Twitter.“I dn’t think mch abt the film. But his performance in ‘Desi Boyz’ is subtle, mature and worthy of acclaim – he deserves a wider range of roles,” he wrote.Ghosh, who has directed films like “Chokher Bali” and “Raincoat”, feels that the 44-year-old might be known for flexible action and perfect comical timings, but there is more in him which is royally ignored.“We have @akshaykumar slotted as an action hero or in a few comic roles but the fact that he is a fine actor goes unnoticed,” he posted.Akshay’s “Desi Boyz” was released Friday and is doing well at the box office

Parents of mentally disabled kids look for filmmakers

If Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen par” (TZP) triggered a ripple of social consciousness vis-a-vis autism, three women have come to IFFI this year armed with scripts and story ideas,
aimed to carpet bomb the “intellectual disability” cause further.Shalini Gupta, Neena Wagh and Kusum Tiwari – all mothers of intellectually disabled children – will conduct a special workshop for potential filmmakers and scriptwriters at the ongoing 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in order to create a wave of social awareness about the needs of children suffering from intellectual disabilities like autism, down syndrome and cerebral palsy.“We have come to Goa with real story ideas, which we will share with potential filmmakers and scriptwriters. There are many more stories like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Paa’ and ‘My Name Is Khan’ that remain untold and there is a dire need to make films on other aspects of intellectual disability,” Gupta said. The trio are a part of Saath, a loosely strung Delhi-based non-registered collective of 250-odd parents who have specially abled children, spread across India and abroad.“Our main problem is the lack of awareness, when it comes to intellectual disabilities. People who are blind, deaf or ones with locomotive disability can self-propagate their needs, but until recently not too many people knew about things like autism,” Neena Wagh told IANS.Wagh said that films like TZP and a teleserial named “Aapki Antara” had done well to take the message to society, which due to an absolute lack of awareness and the ability to deal with special children, did not know how to handle such children.“But these films have helped. I remember we were going on a picnic and one rural Haryanvi bus conductor said ‘madam, yeh ‘Taare Zameen Par’ waale bachche hain na’,” Wagh said. While Saath is scheduled to present three short audio-visual films on intellectual disability at the IFFI, festival Director Shankar Mohan said that it was a moment of inspiration from French filmmaker Bertrand Tarvernier – who was awarded the lifetime achievement award at IFFI 2011 – which resulted in this special session, where the parents would bounce off film and documentary ideas to budding filmmakers and scriptwriters on intellectual disability.“Tarvernier, during his press conference, talked of the filmmakers’ social responsibility and then I found myself talking to Shalini (Gupta), when the idea struck me that we could facilitate an interaction with the filmmakers. Films should entertain, but they should not be divorced from social responsibility,” Mohan said.

Juggling between work and family not easy, says Raveena

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) Actress Raveena Tandon, who is making a full-fledged comeback with "Gin Liya Aasman",
finds it very difficult to maintain her personal and professional life so she considers her own limitations while selecting a role."Love to work again, keeps me alert and positive and functioning again, but don't know if I'm ready to give into long hrs. Difficult to balance sometimes, love my work, but I realise I have my limitations. Wanna be home more...luckily it's my choice, and I can choose," the 37-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.Raveena got married to film distributor Anil Thadani in 2004 and they have two children - six-year-old daughter Rasha, and three-year-old son Ranbir. The actress is currently in Pune for the shoot of "Gin Liya Aasman"."Moping about because I'm going to be in Pune 20 days, love Pune, but realising I can't stay without my kids for more then 3 days. Luckily, they'll be joining me on weekends, still, missing them already and I've just come yesterday. Decided not to do films with long outdoors," she added.Directed by Rishi Deshpande and produced by Mudassar Aziz and Anil Bohra, "Gin Liya Aasman" is the story of a six-year-old boy whose father, a naval officer, has been missing since a plane crash.Raveena, who is playing the boy's mother, is touched by the story line and said: "Very sweet story, this 'Gin Liya Aasman', deeply moved when I read it,very touching and fast narrative about a little boy and his mum."The actress was last seen in "Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap".

Naomi Watts

Born in England, raised in Australia and — after 15 years of hard work — an "overnight" Hollywood success, this actress is as brilliant as she is gorgeous.
Watts began studying acting Down Under and befriended Nicole Kidman at a commercial audition when the two were just teens. In their twenties they both appeared in the boarding-school drama Flirting, but Kidman's star rose much more quickly than Watts'. Throughout the '90s, Watts languished in supporting parts that failed to showcase her incredible versatility and knack for accents. Yet, with a lot of encouragement from Kidman, she stuck it out and finally got her big break in 2001's Mulholland Dr. Originally conceived as a TV series, this offbeat chronicle of an L.A. starlet was released as a movie that featured Watts in two powerhouse parts. Audiences and critics immediately took notice of her talent, and the next year she finally hit the big time with the horror flick The Ring and made the tabloids because of her romance with hunk Heath Ledger, 10 years her junior. Watts continued her hot streak with an Oscar-nominated turn in 2003's 21 Grams and soon signed on to play an ape's best gal in the remake of King Kong. After her relationship with Ledger ended in 2004, she found new love in the arms of the more mature Liev Schreiber, her costar in The Painted Veil.

Angelina Jolie

Stunning, smart and slightly insane, this Hollywood icon is known for romancing her costars, kissing her brother at the Oscars, exotic tattoos and commendable humanitarian efforts.
The daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, she first garnered attention as a high-school computer wiz in the film Hackers after which she married costar Jonny Lee Miller. Their marriage died in 1999 just when Jolie's career was heating up. She appeared in three films that year including the seriocomic Pushing Tin which introduced her to hubby No. 2, Billy Bob Thornton, and the mental-institution drama Girl, Interrupted, which earned her an Oscar. Subsequently, Jolie made a series of blockbusters (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) and bombs (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), none of which made use of her considerable acting talents. After divorcing Thornton in 2003, Jolie devoted much of her time to working with refugees in impoverished countries and raising her adopted children. In 2005, around the time her action film Mr. & Mrs. Smith was released, rumors circulated that she and recently separated costar Brad Pitt were having an affair. Although they refused to confirm the relationship, they remained tabloid cover stars for months until Jolie finally admitted in early 2006 that she was pregnant with his child.
